Default 1968 Pontiac GTO

Well after looking at my goat for the past 23 years, I've finally started the resto. Working on the body right now, new 1/4's, front fender patch, & other misc. I decided to use late model GTO seats & to custom build all my interior panels even though i've never done upholstery. The drivetrain will consist of a 467 stroker, Edelbrock heads, full roller valvetrain & fuel injection. TH400 w/gear vendors od & 12 bolt posi with 3.36's. Big discs front & rear, tubular control arms, front & rear, & finished w/ 20's on the rear & 18's up front. I hope to have it completed by X-mas. I'll keep updating as I progress with it.

That's going to be a fun project, boileranimal! I envy you!

I had a '67 that I built, back in the early 70s. I bought it as a burned-out cinder at the junkyard, for $45, and put more than $4,500 into it (for which my Dad started telling people I was adopted!).

On the way home from the paint shop, I got broadsided by a 5 ton farm truck that was running without lights, and the only thing left was the gearshift knob!

I hope you post lots of in-progress pics on this one. It'll be nice to watch it come along.

I like the thumbnails, neat trick. I did not we could do that - cool

I created this image as A T shirt design a couple of years ago. one of my mates wife told me her husband was a bigamist . That he spent too much time with his first wife (the Pontiac)

I do have a larger better quality version, if anyone wants a copy to make up a T shirt.

I recognise the name boileranimal101 - I think we are running an advert in the Classifieds section.

Heres a couple shots of the 1/4 panel test fits. I bought the new 1/4's from Ames Performance Engineering. They fit very nicely to the car as evarything has that i've purchased from this company. Along with the 1/4's, also replaced the inner wheelhouses & the trunk floor extension on the pass. side. Working on some subtle mods to the body, as soon as they're done i'll post some pics. Its slowly coming around tho.

looking like great start, not hard to pick the new from the old.

No reason we cannot give a plug to Ames Performance Engineering

I am going to post this thread in the Pontiac parts section. I think yours is the only with images of a Pontiac being restored on site. So It makes sense to let the buying and selling Pontiac section get a look in.

Well, since pontiac is no more, we need to try to save as many of them as possible. Anyone with a pontiac that needs resto parts should check out AMES. I have not been disapointed with the service or parts i have recieved from them. They specialize in pontiacs. Will post picks of interior shortly.
